Established in 1952, Congress passed Title 38 of the United States Code, creating what we now call the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and authorizing benefits for Veterans. One of these benefits includes the ‘Aid & Attendance’, also known as the A&A, in which the funds derived from this benefit could be used to pay for the non-medical care services for those in need and who qualify.
Plus, in most cases, the A&A benefit won’t interfere with one’s social security benefits, Medicare, VA Disability, and Medicaid. However, we highly encourage you to call our office because EVERY situation is different.
Our no-cost offering is to help Veterans, couples, or surviving spouses gather the necessary documents and virtually deliver them to our (3rd party referred) VA Claims Agent. Once verbally approved, we usually start care at the beginning of the upcoming month, then wait until the VA approves the application. What makes our agency so unique and different is because we start care when the application is sent to the VA – NOT when the VA approves and releases funds on the benefit (which could take several months)!
In some cases, we absorb the cost of labor upfront so it’s risk-free to you or your loved one. Other agencies may send you to the VA and ask YOU to get the benefit funds yourself and then come back to them to start care when the funds are released. No, this is unacceptable!
Lastly, existing family members may become an employee of VAAH. If so, we would hire this family member to continue providing care ‘as-is’ (i.e. a son or daughter that is already providing care… but for free.) However, we allow them to document all the care which is mandatory from the VA. Once done, and when the entitlement appears, we then replenish the family member for their existing hours of employment. This particular offering is most popular among our clients.
It’s our mission to start care early while your application is being processed (again risk-free to the Veteran, Couple or Surviving Spouse). Once the funds are released, we continue the care through our agency.
Imagine tapping into government funds (that you or your loved one has earned from their service) and using those funds for non-medical home care services, and NOT using your personal income such as Social Security and Retirement. Yes, we can make it happen!
By utilizing our services, it’s our goal to provide the necessary care you or your loved ones need in hopes they pass away peacefully at home or in the place of their choice with dignity and independence. We also have a desire to eventually become family, to laugh, cry and be involved in your day-to-day activities for many years to come.
Also, every 60-90 days, there is a supervisory visit carried out by one of our staff supervisors. These supervisory visits allow you to adjust your care plan, give us updates on your condition, review your relationship with your Caregiver, and share with your family if applicable.
